Staff Spotlight: Dr Georgina Frazer
Dr Georgina Frazer is leading the next chapter of Evervet Hawthorn as Head Vet, bringing together strong clinical experience, a thoughtful approach to patient care, and a genuine connection to the local community she grew up in.
What inspired you to pursue a career in veterinary medicine, and how do you find it rewarding?
My journey into veterinary medicine really started when I was six years old and got my first pet - a guinea pig I named Saturn. I’ve always had a strong connection to animals, and that naturally grew into wanting to care for them professionally.
What I love most about being a vet is the combination of problem-solving, hands-on medicine and building relationships with people. You become such an important part of a pet family’s life, whether it’s helping welcome a new puppy, managing a complicated illness or supporting families through the difficult times.
Can you tell us about a time when you feel you’ve made a significant difference in a pet family’s life?
The cases that stay with me most are often the ones where a family has been feeling worried or overwhelmed, and we’re able to guide them through things clearly and compassionately.
I particularly enjoy surgery because you can often make a very immediate difference to a patient’s comfort and quality of life. Seeing a patient bounce back after a successful procedure and watching the relief that brings their family is incredibly rewarding.
How do you build strong relationships with families to ensure effective care of their pets?
I think good veterinary care starts with listening. Families know their pets best, and small details about behaviour, appetite or personality are really important for me to hear about.
I always want people to feel comfortable asking questions and being involved in decision-making. Every pet and every family is different, so taking the time to communicate clearly and tailor a plan to their needs is really important to me.
What are your pro-hacks for ensuring pet families can safeguard their pet’s health?
Prevention and early intervention make a huge difference. Regular health checks, including dental care and parasite prevention, are all really important, even when pets seem healthy.
I also encourage people to trust their instincts when something feels “slightly off” at home. Often, the subtle changes are the earliest signs that a pet needs help.
What do you love most about being part of the Evervet team, and how do you contribute to the exceptional care and service that clients expect?
I love that here at Evervet, everyone genuinely strives to provide thoughtful, collaborative care. Everyone - from reception staff to treatment teams - works together to achieve the best outcomes for patients, all whilst being conscious of the goals and priorities of the families we’re helping.
I also love that there’s a strong culture of learning and support across our large team, with so many different areas of clinical knowledge we make a big point of reflecting and sharing when things go well, but also staying across advancements and improvements we can make to our care.
At Hawthorn, I’m excited to channel all this into a clinical space that feels welcoming, personal and community-focused - somewhere that families feel known, listened to and supported throughout the journey they’re on with their pets.
